Fisgard lighthouse stands at the entrance to Esquimalt harbour, Canada's western naval base near Victoria. Fisgard lighthouse, now a national monument was built in 1860, the first lighthouse on Canada's west coast. The woodcut Fisgard light was created by carving and printing from 7 blocks. The sky and water use the pattern of the natural woodgrain to create the impression of clouds and ripples.
